Beautiful Ruins in a hidden location make Dunstanburgh Castle on of our favourites.

Standing on a headland a mile or so north of Craster on the north eastern coast of England,, totally inacessable except on foot, the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle are a wonderful site.

Once owned by John of Gaunt, this castles was in its heyday one of the grandest in the country.

The massive gatehouse is well preserved but little else has survived the battering of the storms over the centuries.
