A moat is all that remains of a once very regal castle.

The castle once stood at the centre of a vast estate known as the Honour of St. Valory. Built by cousins of William the Conqueror, Hinton was a classic Motte and Bailey Castle.

Lady Mary de Bohun the mother of King Henry V lived here.
