Peckforton Castle (off the A49, 10 miles west of Crewe) was built in 1844 by John Tollemach, member of Parliament for Cheshire 1841-1872. Designed in the style of a 12th Century fortification by Anthony Salvin.

Peckforton Castle is these days available to hire as a fabulous medieval style wedding venue. Just because it isn't a genuine medieval castle doesn't make Peckforton castle any less romantic or interesting than the other castles of England.

Peckforton Castle was famously used as a location for the 1991 hollywood film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, starring Kevin Costner.
