Rowton Castle is now one of Shropshire's most interesting hotels.

Built on the site of a medieval castle that was destroyed by Welsh forces in 1463. The present castle was built as a residence in 1669. By then the country was a peace and the castellations were purely decorative.

In 1941 Rowton Castle became the home of the Royal School for the blind, and David Blunkett, Minister of Education was once a pupil here.

Following an extensive refurbishment Rowton Castle has been reborn as a prestigious hotel.
