Open to the public from Easter Sunday to end of October, Tiverton Castle is a small castle comprising three round towers and one square tower originally built in 1106 by Henry I.
The only time in its history that it saw battle was during the Civil War when Tiverton Castle was besieged by Sir Thomas Fairfax.
Apparently the castle fell to the besieging forces when a lucky shot hitting a drawbridge chain allowing the invaders to enter.
Tiverton Castle can be found close to the centre of town but is only open to visitors on ertain dates in the year, so be sure to book your visit to Tiverton Castle well in advance.
